OUR STORY
What started as a group of us looking inwards with the intention to work on ourselves, talk about our insecurities, and personal struggles has now become a foundation and platform for many men in the community to begin to retell their version of modern masculinity. All it took was one man in the group to drop his walls and ask for help. Leading with vulnerability is powerful because it gives permission for others (in their own time and way) to do the same.
Kings of Hearts began the day we asked ourselves “if so much healing and good came out of us meeting regularly to talk about what so many men are afraid to talk about, then how many of them are out there yearning for this type of dialogue/conversation?" We strongly stand by the belief that if we are now aware, we cannot stay silent any longer. We need to step up and do something, even if it’s a small thing.
Most men wait until a crisis before reaching out for support, this is not okay and often times it’s too late. The aim of Kings of Hearts is to create a brave space to share, process, and let go of old stories that we tell of how we “should” be. We encourage ourselves to reimagine and then reclaim what it really means to show up as a man, but most importantly a human being.
What core values do we stand behind?
Self-Awareness
Learning who you are, why you think the way you think, reimagining new narratives on what masculinity means in this new age. Journeying from head to heart.
Character
Showing up everyday and taking ownership for your actions, words, and attitude. To embody love over fear, and live within integrity. This is the way of the King.
Vulnerability
Being willing to drop the mask/armour and show up authentically. Leading with vulnerability gives others permission to do the same.
Service
What’s the point of it all if we do not take our new way of being and give it back to the world? It does not need to be grandiose, small acts go a very long way.
Meet The Men Behind Kings of Hearts…
“True masculinity, however, is the transmission of the deepest human experience of depth, consciousness and the infinite and unchanging nature of life; given through our eyes, through our breath, and through our entire body. It doesn’t need anything. It’s nature is freedom, not conquest. It occurs as love, not dominance. It’s transmission is a gift, not a show of strength.”
